12 in 12 in 2012
When I was doing some research on the 3 Words in 2012, I came across the idea of a “12 in 12 for 2012”. The concept is simple, make a list of 12 things that you will do this year. You select one action and do it every day for a month. At the end of the month, you have to do something else on your list and you can either choose to stick with the old item or stop doing it if it doesn’t really fit your lifestyle.
I am going to give this a shot too. It will help me live out my 3 Words for 2012 and will get me closer to accomplishing my 43 Things List as well. It may sound like a lot but they are all somewhat tied together. Efficiency is key…efficient and effective.
It is said that doing something for 30 days (or I have heard 21 days) creates a habit, the 12 in 12 allows you to create 12 new habits for 2012. New habits are a sign of growth. Growth happens when we learn. Learning takes place through trial and error. Life happens where there is learning. The point of this exercise to move us in the direction of life!
I don’t want to sit back on my heals and not live life…I want my life to count for something.
Here is my 12 in 12 List:
January: Read the Bible - I have been doing this since January 1.
February: Write a “love note”
March: 10 minutes of Core exercise
April: Write a Thank You Card
May: Post a Blog
June: Take a Picture
July: Personal... ;)
August: Run for 30 minutes
September: Write a note to Molly
October: Draw a picture
November: Tweet “Thankful for…”
December: Meditate for 5 minutes
I will keep you posted on my progress.
